Re: Owners

My pending deal was finally closed yesterday. I am now offcial owner of 'io' hull #18, a Mahe Trio built in December 2006 and first comissioned in 2007. She was first used for a few years of charter work in Malta / Mediterranean and then some years for very little private use.

I am generally not a fan of ex-charter yachts but I was really surprised how well the Mahe survived these years of abuse from both a technical point of view as well as cosmetically. The Interior looks excellent and technically she only has a few nags here and there.

Coming from a Lagoon 410 it's amazing how much room they managed to squeeze into this little boat. She is faster than the (live aboard, fully loaded and over-equipped) Lagoon with a ton of options. However she is hobby horsing way more than the longer lagoon. some gear on board looks rather undersized to me but then the Lagoon was double the weight . overall I'm very happy with this boat.

She is currently based in Italy and will be used for extended holiday and weekend cruising.

Congrats Rabbi. We look forward to your postings and comparisons with your previous Lagoon, and your ongoing experience.

Jef:

I was searching for something else today and came across your post, which gave me pause. I"m in the middle of my trip to FL, then south. Your input on this forum has helped me (and I'm sure others) more than you can know. Best wishes to you and yours, and safe journeys aboard your new boat.

Re: Owners

Bob,
Thank you for your kind words.
There is life after a Mahé, but also lots of work! We are already 2 months on the hard in Thailand with probably another month to go; working full time.
Compared to the Mahé everything is bigger, you need to put in loads more of muscle power. I have not yet dared to try the huge symmetric spinnaker.

Re: Owners

Thanks. I ( we) can learn a lot from the facts surrounding your Mahe purchase, So yours is an Evo 2011 that you bought in France and had transported through the BVI to west coast S FL? Did you also plan to place it into charter?

Re: Owners

RK, No we never ended up purchasing the 2011 Evo in France. There was a few factors involved including the 220v wiring and we need a USCG registered vessel for our requirements. We purchased a 2013 Evo not long put into charter were we will leave it for the rest of the year, whilst enjoying the US & BVI cruising grounds ourselves.

It's been some time since the last post. How's your charter experience been with Horizon?

Re: Owners

Hi All
Been a while since I was on the forum.
Big week this for the Admiral and myself.
We have just signed for a new FP 40 and put Reflexion on the market.
Very mixed emotions as Reflexion has served us well but the level of comfort in the new 40 looks great.

Somehow I don't think she will be as good a sailing boat as the Mahe though!

Part of the decision was to take delivery in La Rochelle and see a bit of the world over the next 3 years or so. Lifestyle change as well!

Will add some posts as things develop - Hull 22 scheduled for May 2016!

Cheers
Martin

Martin,

Good luck with the new boat and selling Reflexion.

The extra size is a wonderful benefit but we still have a very very soft spot for our Mahe.

Thanks Daniel.
All happened very quickly, going from a thought to a sales contract!

Yes, congrats. But please tell us a bit about why the sudden decision? (Mahe has no competition in today's market, but I almost dig your motive)
