Hole underneath bridgedeck

My husband and I are looking at purchasing a Lucia 40. I noticed there are two holes underneath the bridgedeck. The broker said the holes are drains for the cockpit and the cover is from the factory to reduce water coming up through the drain holes. The cover does not seem sturdy at all. I was wondering if anyone had issues with the drain from the cockpit. I've attached a terrible photo of it for reference. BTW, the boat is on the hard right now so I'm almost thinking the cover is temporary. Thanks!

We have the same flimsy looking cover on our Mahe 36. Despite its looks, its works just fine. It is not an issue.

She's just doing what she was told to do

Re: Hole underneath bridgedeck

As mentioned, our Mahe has the same thing and no issues for us either. But worst case it rips off and you get a minimal amount of water jetting through the two 2" drains when a big wave comes through and slaps right there. Easily solved by putting any heavy object over the drains until you can fix it and if you're somehow not able to do that just close the doors and it will be a non-issue, just a small amount of extra water in the cockpit every few minutes that will easily drain far faster than it comes in.

This is probably the last thing you need to be worrying about when buying a Lucia. Or to turn that into a positive, if this is your biggest concern than you're looking pretty good!
