RUNNING UBUNTU OPENCPN ON YOUR SMARTPHONE

Ubuntu For Android Turns Your Smartphone Into A Real Computer

Now this sounds interesting. Finally a chance to run Ubuntu version of OpenCPN on your smartphone.

Have a look:http://www.gottabemobile.com/2012/02...real-computer/

Re: RUNNING UBUNTU OPENCPN ON YOUR SMARTPHONE

I did setup Ubuntu on my Android Tablet. Ran fine. I did not setup an auto load so it did require multiple steps to use. I haven't used it much, I need to reset my window size and even though that is not a big deal, I found other things to keep me busy.

This sounds excellent - a dual boot phone/pad that can access all the Android data when booted in Ubuntu mode.

How did it manage with no keyboard? Does it use a pop-up like Android?

Ubuntu for Android is designed for a docking station with a keyboard/mouse. And it's not available yet. (But has been demoed at trade shows)

In my case it was a Android Tablet, so the default display keyboard was used. I now have a Bluetooth keyboard, which should also work.
