OpenCPN Version 5.8.2 Released

I sailed yesterday with OpenCPN 5.8.2 on a Raspberry Pi 4, 8GB and had two instances of it crashing. The attached log only captures the first crash. The log contains info going back to OpenCPN version 5.7.1-1+71ffe26, 2023-03-29. The last message before a crash seems to be "MESSAGE ocpn_app.cpp:1207". I tried attaching the log file as a text file and got rejected by the 1k limit. Please let me know if you need the file sent differently. The log file is 558KB. Thank you.

make a zip file of it and add to the extension of the zip file ".pdf", with it you can attach if I remember up to 2 MB

I save candump files from my sailing trips. When I ran the candump file out to vcan0 on my home Raspberry Pi 4 8GB, the crash also happened with the last few opencpn.log entries:

So, the issue is repeatable. The candump.log file is around 140 MB.

Do you have any way to upload to some cloud storage that we can access? Dropbox, for instance?

Replayed candump log on Ubuntu running on Windows under WSL.

No sound support in my config.

A long way into the log, about half way to Bainbridge island, there is an AIS warning. In my test setup, if "Play sound on CPA/TCPA alerts is configured", it crashes OpenCPN.

I've noted when testing SART & DSC alerts in my Ubuntu WSL setup, playing a sound when there is no sound support crashes O.

Not sure of Zag's config but may be worth investigating.

Played the candump on linux, x86. Almost done, no crash yet.
Will you tell us more about your settings, especially AIS?
1. CPA Warnings settings.
2. CPA Alert dialog settings
3. CPA Audio settings.

I've seen same problem than previous versions with the exchange of language, I use to do that in order to compare original English messages from in my case to the Spanish translation:

Settings - user option - exchange to desired language - Apply - OK

after doing these steps the program started to exchange parameters and O just quits, showing the creating bug report and crashes.
on the next start, of course displayed window of choose to start with plugins or not, and the program starts with the exchanged language.
also if I want to come back to previous language it happens the same behaviour.
I could not reproduce it in windows 11x64 and this happens to my with windows 11ARM64 in my tablet and also the computer on board with same o.s.

Following my previous message.

I've seen in the .xml crash report file there is one line related to "OCPN Draw plugin", I had installed in those O Draw Plugin 1.8.
(W11 ARM64 machines but not in the W11_x64)

I've uninstalled this plugin in my tablet and now the exchange of language is performed without any issue.

Edition:
also with newest beta draw plugin 1.8.24.1 happens the same behaviour for the O crash, after uninstall it no crash with the language exchange.

OpenCPN freezes sometimes for some time. A message pops up, which could be translated into English as: No response. (In German it reads: keine Rückmeldung.) After some time the program again behaves correctly. My old version 5.6.2 did not have this annoying problem. I use W10 64 Pro.

I see the same thing regularly on startup. It can take up to approx 30 seconds to recover. Windows 11 Pro.

Searching the WEB, I found a notice that if you use a non-Windows Anti-Virus program, this can lead to the symptoms described by me. So, I changed to Windows DEFENDER. The freezing problem still persists.
