Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.714 Released

Hello All,

I'm stumped. OpenCPN is a security tool. Not a toy. Is it necessary to propose different toolbar icons?

For sailors who maintain the aid in foreign language (other than English), and I do it in French, it will require significant work further explanation ...

I would have preferred a button that completely masks and unmasks the icon bar.

Also, here is something MORE IMPORTANT. I tried to place a MOB with a new icon bars. The mark icon is that of plug-in GRIB ...??? This is not a good choice. We need the MOB icon in the toolbar and the icon of the mark is the same.

And with the traditionnal icon bar , the icon of the man overboard is not the traditional icon.

Also, if you put a MOB, that mark disappears if you close OpenCPN and if you open it again. I do not remember how this works with the previous versions of OpenCPN. Is this an anomaly?

Well....

The old toolbar code was very hard to modify. For example creating a Touchscreen version (a frequent user request) was basically not possible. It is now.

The old toolbar code was also hardcoded inconsistent in how rollovers and toggles were presented. Changing this was difficult due to individual platform constraints. Now we have consistent behaviour across all platforms and tools.

Creating and modifying icons was very difficult for most users, due to the use of the ancient XPM format that almost no raster editing softwares support anymore. Now we use modern PNG, which anyone can do.

And also, for me personally, from an emotional point of view I think the traditional style makes OCPN look like a Christmas tree toy and not like the professional application it is.

Have some faith man! Do you really think this is a "choice"?
Of course it is a bug, this is why we do early betas....

Being on Gentoo I guess you have gdb installed. Can you try running under that and see if the crash repeats itself, and if so provide the traceback?

All those lines, except for the last, are quite normal and should just be ignored.
Please install ddd, and run opencpn through the debugger.
If/when you have a crash, print the main screen in ddd and the backtrace dialog, and publish the pictures here here.

Jesper

Copying track properties as text. Pasting it, it's called "Route Properties" on the first line, instead of the expected "Track properties".

Ah! Great! A Copy-and-paste bug in the copy-and-paste code

(It wasn't a copy and paste bug actually, it's the same code except the window changes name. Guess I'll have to pick that up).

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.714 Released

Hello,

it seemed that the .mo is new but where is the new .pot ?

I seach it. I looked in the 3.1.714 branch, but without finding it. There is an older version available without the new item of 3.1.714.

Best regards

Gilletarom.

It seems no one thought about running the pot-update and po-update this time. I have done it and committed to the master branch.
