I have started to use Opencpn and love it.

I have successfully established a connection with the GPS unit and have some good charts of East coast Australia.

I have read the manual and FAQ (Several times) and browsed the forum with no luck. My question is, where are the comm ports for the incoming NMEA data such as depth, wind etc specified in Opencpn.

I am also hoping to have data such as targets display in opencpn come across via nmea but again can find no settings for such things.

I am obviously missing something. Help appreciated.

Re: NMEA Data

O expects all NMEA data (GPS, depth, wind etc) to appear on the same port.
Usually they will when using an integrated instrumentation system.

If you have different serial ports for all of these you need to look at some of the external tools available for merging the different data streams into one. is one example (you didn't say which platform you're on...)

Re: NMEA Data

As Jesper said, from O side, that will land on same port, but from experience, make sure you "have" that data beforehand (instruments, et al) in the NMEA stream, some equipment with nmea ins and outs just dont deliver convertion from propietary protocols (Seatalk, Navbus, Network, etc.) . Example at hand: Raymarine autopilots NO (except HDG and RR-rudder reference), Raymarine plotters YES. good luck.
