Navico BR24 and OCPN 3.3.2302 PROBLEM

Hello everyone! Pretty new to this stuff and this is actually my first post, so don't be too hard to me

I have a Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit Serv Pack 1 PC with OCPN 3.3.2302 and Navico BR24 plug-in installed.
I have the OCPN PC, the Navico radar, a B&G plotter all connected to a switch and router in a small testing network.

PC gets 192.168.1.171, radar gets 172.

I can turn the radar on/off, adjust gain and run most controls from OCPN PC. Plotter reflects all these changes as being taken by the radar. Great!!
But changes made in the radar from the plotter are not reflected in OCPN.
Plus, I get no radar imagery at all in OCPN.

It is like it works one way, in UDP to the IP of the radar but does not in the other way, when supposed multicast or broadcast messages from the radar should make it to the PC.

Any idea? Currently, Options/Connections reflects this:

Enabled 192.168.1.255:10110 UDP Input Pty=1 No filters
Enabled 192.168.1.172:2947 UDP Output Pty=1 No filters

But I made those up myself and have tried many things with no change in results. THANKS.

Re: Navico BR24 and OCPN 3.3.2302 PROBLEM

Lucio,

At the moment the radar picture shown by the plugin will reflect commands issued by the chart plotter, but the plugin does not yet listen to the commands issued by the chart plotter so it won't show, for instance, any changes in the Sea State or Gain controls. This is a work in progress.

As to not showing any data, the most likely culprit is that you do not have a heading source. If there is no heading input the plugin doesn't know how to rotate the image, so it won't show it. As of release 0.41108 (released today) it will emit a message to that effect to the logfile. This needs to be improved by showing up in the user interface.

Otherwise it could be that the radar data is not getting in because of the Windows firewall. Your best bet is to either allow ALL traffic from the radar or, for now, disable it completely.

The radar data is multicast traffic. It will NOT show up in Options > Connections, nor do you need to configure those.

Although, if your heading data comes from a TCP source, you of course do need a connection set up.

There is an enhancement request to fix the "reflection" of the chart plotter controls at https://github.com/canboat/BR24radar_pi/issues/40
