Issues with not internet access

Hi,
I'm running flatpak Open CPN on a PI5.
If I start OpenCPN with no internet access that the tool bars are all black, data connections don't work and no plugins appear no are any visible in the plugin list (I'm only usng the O-Charts plugin).
If I start OpenCPN with internet access then all is fine. I can disconnect the internet after OpenCPN has started without issue.
Has anyone seen this fault and sucessfully resolved it?
Thanks,
Rob

Re: Issues with no internet access

Problem solved. I had connectons set up for both when the PI was accessng an existing wifi network and for when it was operating as an access point. Signal K and UDP output for both. When I disabled the connections for when the PI was accessing an existing network OPEN CPN loaded without issue when the PI was acting as an access point.

Below is a copy of the errors I was gettng in the log.

Re: Issues with not internet access

Even with connections configured and enabled the application should start normally, can you please post the exact configuration that blocks without internet access?
Preferably the long line from the config file starting with DataConnections= - if you open the "About OpenCPN" window from the toolbar, link to the configuration file is there, just click on it and the file should be opened in your default text editor.

Re: Issues with not internet access

Hi,
It's the Signal K 192.168.0.134:80 connection that causes OpenCPN not to start correctly when not connected to the internet.
Thanks,
Rob

Re: Issues with not internet access

Hmmm.... Still can't reproduce your problem whatever I try. When you are "not connected to internet", is 192.168.0.134:80 available and what is your own IP address at that moment? And if it is, are you sure there is a Signal K websocket server listening on port 80 (It by default uses port 3000)?

Re: Issues with not internet access

Hi,
I'm using port 80 for SignalK and getting the data into OpenCPN. When the PI is working as an access point the IP is 10.42.0.1
I've not sure how to tell is 192.168.0.134:80 is open? That connection was causing the issue though, I switched it on / off a few times to prove.
I've used localhost for both the SignalK and UDP connection now so I don't need duplicate connections depending on the PI IP address. A simplier option that I should have thought of originally!
Thanks for looking into it.
Cheers,
Rob

Re: Issues with not internet access

Sure, locahost is the correct solution for this situation. I actually have reimplemented SignalK support using a different library with TLS and authentication support for the next release, that's why I'm looking into every possible corner case that might need attention here.

Re: Issues with not internet access

Hi,
I had setup SignalK to use port 80 as it saves tying in the port after the IP address to access the web based GUI. I'll try it on port 3000 later and see if it was the change of port that caused the issues.
Thanks,
Rob
