OK THANK YOU ALL IS WORKING WELL. DO YOU KNOW HOW TO CONVERT JPG. BMP TIF EXT INTO A KAP. I HAVE SOME JPGs OF PERU THAT I NEED TO CONVERT

Big subject... first there's Chart Conversion Manual | Official OpenCPN Homepage,

my big tip for you is goto hereabouts NGA Charts Status Region 2 at OpenCPN.info (English)
and make sure it hasn't already been made....

my second big tip is:
getting the image ready before calibrating can be the biggest nuisance...
