From the video I take the first thing is to grab that pillow.

The impact/damage: IMHO the actual damage will vary ... and in open water, with vigorous wave action and an obstinate, sharp-edged object ... But that's many factors at once and, touch wood, will happen to few.

Rethinking, I see the access (from the inside) to be of paramount importance. Also, notice they hammered the locker side wall open. If it were complete ... So I think all the water traps and watertight bulkheads are great design features.

Now off to watch the dismasting and the wrong tie video.

About 60 days later we found the wreck and were able to dive it; there was not much left but the metal parts by then.

That boat sounds like the only thing holding her together were the termites holding hands.
