Uknown device

Hi guys,
This is probably a silly post but have been stock taking my boats parts and have come across a part I have no idea what It is. Was kept here from previous owner.
Any ideas what it is ?

Thanks.

Aha....thanks StuM.....yes, there is a backup Autohelm in the boat as we are using a newer Evolution system.
The Ratheon must be fairly old.

Re: Uknown device

We had one on our first Insatiable, steered us many miles. There's an even earlier tiller one (the one in the pic is for a wheel pilot), that we have on the newer Insatiable. Purchased 2003. Someone may want to borrow that. It needs the bracket on the wheel and the drive belt for it to be a quick install, assuming the electronics still work. There should be a control panel somewhere, too. And no masses of iron or steel near the compass.

Re: Uknown device

Thanks Ann, seems a bit light on to drive a Wheel pilot although our boat is an old Cutter Rig 43 and about 16 tonne. The motor driving our Auto pilot is quite substantial but I'm guessing it's probably fine on a smaller boat.
