st7000 autohelm no heading

I recently did some electrical work on the boat and when I turned on the Autohelm ST7000 to go sailing it runs through all the functions, beeps etc but does not show the heading when in Auto or Standby mode. When I press the auto function it only seems to adjust the rudder angle and I can not get the pilot to function in heading mode.

No GPS, Seatalk or NMEA is connected to the control unit/computer only a fluxgate compass and rudder indicator are connected. I have checked all the connections and they all appear fine.

Anybody got any ideas that why its not showing or reading heading?

You probably do have bits of a Seatalk/NMEA 0183 bus, as the fluxgate needs to talk to the st7000. Check to make sure you did not disrupt power to the fluxgate. Seems as though I remember an indicator light?
If that is alive run the calibration procedure on the rudder AND compass , slow 360 turn to starboard when in cal mode.

Good luck, now I need help getting the st7000 to take direction from the GPS and when's on the fluxgate not taking off to the north pole when the admiral walks by with her. Artificial hip!
