Raymarine eS97 Hybrid Touch MFD

Has anyone had trouble with the touch screen function on their Raymarine Hybrid Touch MFD?

Mine are back into Raymarine for the second warranty issue in as many years. The screens start to have what they refer to as "ghost touches" then the touch function simply stops working. It may come back for a bit intermitently, but mostly, the function is dead.

I am the unlucky owner of a few bad apples or has anyone else experienced this? I have two helms and two MFD, so it has happened to four units in less than 3 years. Otherwise they work as advertised.

I understand that the Axiom Pro may have addressed these issues, but those are not the units I own at this point.

Any feedback is appreciated.

We have a hybrid touch(bought by prev owner, so no warranty info) that is doing the same thing. It will not accept recalibrating of touch screen.
So unfortunately it got moved below and is just a repeater now for inside viewing. We bought an axiom pro as a replacement at the helm.

I have had a hybrid touch es97 for almost 3 years now, and haven’t experienced this problem. My MFD is mounted on a swing arm in the companionway, and so is pretty protected from direct weather and sun.

Re: Raymarine eS97 Hybrid Touch MFD

Hi,
I have just today swopped my salon eS97 display with the helm one, as the helm one has exactly the same problem.
I have tried all suggestions from the german raymarine support (factory reset, data master change etc.etc.), but nothing worked so I will send the faulty display to raymarine europe in the UK for repair (which is a pain as I am in south sicily at the moment with the boat...and the display was on the the boat from the preowner, so no warranty)
The german support guy told my that this happens sometimes on the eS-series......

I have an eS127 in the cockpit between the helms. We keep the rubber sunshade on it when not in use but otherwise it is uncovered and exposed to the elements. 3.5 years and no problems at all.

My eS75 works well. No problem with the touch screen feature. It is covered when not in use.

I would not swear to it. But I believe I read something on here that it is related to sun exposure on the screen.

When ever I have issues with my screen I find giving it a good cleaning helps. Just use a soft cloth and water only. Hope this cheap fix helps.

I bought a second hand e7d which was difficult to calibrate and erratic in operation. I noticed a buildup of salt and grit under the edges of the bezel and so dismantled the unit and cleaned this up. Operation of the touch screen is much improved. The unit does need to be opened up to get to the screen and removed the bezel. Not a job for the inexperienced but there is help on youtube.

I have had the same problem. Planning to update the software and recalibrate. Nice to see this thread.

Re: Raymarine eS97 Hybrid Touch MFD

Pfff, i have the same display. The first one, touchscreen was defective after 3 years. I got a new one from Raymarine, now 3 years later same fault. We are preparing for a circum navigation… i am considering swapping everything out for simrad. (The raymarine radar also only lasted 5 years…) quality of Raymarine is absolutely below par
