Raymarine C70 Chartplotter Mounting

I have the C70 mounted in the bracket on a support for the hard bimini. I have been removing the unit and putting it away but that has been causing extra wear on the cable ends. Looking into NavPod but that is very difficult for the layout of my helm. How does everyone feel about the security of the locking knobs? I know their not perfect but would you trust your chartplotter to it while stateside?

I've gone the RAM mount approach, but like you I'm concerned with connector wear, especially since I disconnect the unit and take it below when not in use. I don't have a good place for a NavPod, so that's the approach I went with, we'll see how long it lasts.

I have a Raymarine RC530 chartplotter/radar repeater mounted in a swiveling Navpod on the coaming next to the helm. It's been there for six years with no worries about theft in anchorages and boatyards in the Chesapeake and eastern Caribbean. It's secured by some kind of special screws that need a unique tool to remove, but no one's ever tried to steal it.
