miniplex2wi to raspberry pi 5 via usb

Hi all,

i would like to connect the usb output of my miniplex2wi to my raspberry pi 5 to collect some info from my instruments.
There are no miniplex drivers for the RPI5, but i hope someone would have found a way to do this. If so, please share!!!

The MiniPlex uses a normal FTDI USB chipset, no driver is needed on Linux.

Basically what i did is the following:

i plugged the usb coming from Miniplex into the RPI5
i wrote a prog in python and tested it with a different device to make sure it worked
i plugged and unplugged the usb , and by using the ls /Dev/tty* i realized its on USB0
I tried at 4800 and at 9600 baud rate
Nothing came out.

Then I connected the pi to the miniplex over wifi - works perfectly and gives me a perfect scroll of nmea0183 sentences

Using my windows laptop with the miniplex USB driver installed, I get a perfect result (using also the same python code) as well.

So my thinking is that the problem is the lack of drivers.....but since im pretty new at this i might be completely wrong...
So if its not the drivers what should i do?....

Your problem is not lack of drivers, no drivers are needed on Linux and you confirmed that the device node /dev/ttyUSB0 is created so they are working exactly as expected.

The speed of the USB port on my MiniPlex 3 is 460800
If you send it

$PSMDVER

, you should get a response with version information, something like

$PSMDVER,3.14.0,MiniPlex-3Wi-N2K,3B021932,A01B*0D
