I have tried all subversions of the M423 listed in the software with the same result.

Anyone any idea? Can it be that the software version I have is to old?

Same here! Could anyone who successfully programmed the radio please post the radios software version?

Mine is 2.000 and it doesn't work.

I've found out that the Software required for 423G and 423GE is called "cs-m424"

Hi, I have an Icom IC-M423GE, I read that you can also change MMSI with the CS-M92D software. but trying to download both the software and the connection diagrams in the post, the mega.nz links are not working. Would anyone be kind enough to repost them working? Thank you

As stated above, you can't use the M92D Software since it will tell you "wrong software version"
Try finding CS-M424A, that's the one you need.

Re: Icom IC-M423 MMSI change

Not having the M92D software available to see if it was possible to adapt it to the M423GE, I disassembled an ICOM programming software. I saw that the CI-V protocol is used for programming communication. This protocol requires that the first 2 bytes are 0xFE 0xFE, the third byte corresponds to the Transceiver Address, while the fourth byte corresponds to the Controller Address. Following are the bytes of the control commands. Having the M92D software available I could see what difference exists between the bytes of the M423 model compared to those of the M423GE in order to force the program to recognize that it is a recognized peripheral. Does anyone have this software? Furthermore, there is software developed to test communication with the CI-V protocol, which could also be used to understand how to interact. Below is the link: https://kb3hha.com/CIVScout

Re: Icom IC-M423 MMSI change

The software isn't available (to my knowledge) anywhere for free. Any ICOM dealer sells it for about 100$ or so.
The reason why the M92 Software isn't compatible isn't (just) because ICOM is greedy but the whole device has changed a lot. Including memory allocation, chanel storage and a whole different firmware because of the internal GPS.
To make the M92 Software think it does communicate with the right device will likely break/brick your radio.

Re: Icom IC-M423 MMSI change

Hi, since I wasn't able to find the software, I opted to change the method. I disassembled the front cover of the M423GE VHF and in the PCB I found a ROHM BR24T256 I2C EEProm. With a simple programmer I read the EEprom, identified the memory address containing the MMSI (not entirely clear), and I rewrote the EEPROM, resetting the MMSI. 100% positive result (this system will certainly also be valid for other models).

That's a bit of a different approach but at least you've been successful!
Congratulations!
