Cell phone booster - worth it?

For those of you that have them, how well do cell phone boosters work for you when costal cruising? I am mainly cruising the Southern California coast and was hoping to get better pickup when sailing to Catalina or Ensenada.

Very pleased with ours, makes a noticeable difference. Several locations in the San Juan Islands where we cruise have no cell reception from deck level but works well with the booster antenna mounted on our first spreader. The height plus increased transmission power has really expanded our reception and made getting it well worth the investment for us.
