Did They Change Yachtworld?

YW used to save my personal preferences in the advanced search tab and now that tab is gone and it appears to be replaced by a filters tab which doesn't save anything. Is this just me or has anyone else noticed?

they changed the site design ... the new filters sidebar isn't nearly as useful as the old design, and they took out the "sort by" option, so you can't sort the list by price, length and so on. a poor "upgrade" in my opinion.

if you click on the "features" tab on the top banner then hover over "boats" you will see "advanced search"

Re: Did They Change Yachtworld?

But advanced search is not there. It opens up a page with 79,000 boats for sale. So I click used in filters then I have to wait while it filters out all the new boats and I'm down to 68,000 boats and so on until you get to what you want. The old advanced search lets you do it all at once and would save your preferences.

Re: Did They Change Yachtworld?

yes indeed, and I think it's new today ... the old advanced search was vastly better. It appears they have done a redesign with two goals in mind. They want to maximize the number of boats that get an "impression," and make themselves look better to their broker customers. This is what the incremental-filter-based search does, it shows more listings on your screen before you get to what you want to see. The other goal is that it allows them to show you more ads.
As an aside, the "sort-by" control is still there, but they changed it such that it appears only if you are allowing cookies.

A classic situation in IT: "It ain't broke, so we gotta fix it!"

Yes same experience here, don't like it, my iPad is old and filters will not work, what I do now is, in Google, I type in Yachtworld.com advanced search, and the old advanced search page comes up.

Downgrade most certainly.

From an IT marketing standpoint, the new layout results in a LOT more "clicks."
But it's been up for several days, at least.

And yes, I hate it, too.

Yes, I've noted a number of new features and don't like them. The one that upsets me is that you can no longer copy the boat photos. I keep a file of other boats like mine for ideas, etc. and they somehow stopped the ability to do that so I have to get them off other boating sales sites.

These techie-types always have to f--- with things that are working fine.

Re: Did They Change Yachtworld?

Looks like they also just put the "old" advanced search to bed. When typed directly into the url, as Bear 15 says in an above post, it renders a "Page not Found" error and the url says is it no longer active.

Bad move all the way around; more ads and more difficult to look at just boats you desire to see

Works fine for me. I'm using Opera browser, with Google search. (Based in Norway. Behavior may be different from the US.)

Sounds like the Seabees motto, " If it ain't broke, we can't fix it. If we can't fix it, we'll f%&k it up."
