Barient 22 st winch

Hi, I have just purchased an 30 year old sailing keel boat. My existing halyard ropes are slipping when self tailing on my Barient 22 winches.

1. Is there an easy solution to fix this?
2. Are there different self-tailing tops for different size ropes?
3. Can I fix this without buying new winches.

All suggestion will be much appreciated.

You need more wraps of the halyard on the winch.

Nothing wrong with the Barient winches. Check that the line is the right diameter for the winch, and the condition of the self tailing jaws. Parts are still available for the Ausy winch co

Thankyou. The diameter of the rooe does look too small however the tailing jaws do look a bit worn as well. I will price new tailing jaws for this size rope.
