Scotland to Iceland: What Season ?

I am planning on sailing from Sweden to Scotland to Iceland this June can anyone tell me if this is to early in the year?

Will the winds be against us?
Is ice still a major factor at this time of the year?

More details about the trip at www.belzebub2.com

Thanks for your advice!

I suggest that you begin with downloading the set of Pilot Charts for the North Atlantic Ocean:
Maritime Safety Information

With lots of useful information, the monthly charts give wind roses and gale percentages.

Salut,
I made this trip (St Malo / Galway / Stornoway / Thorshavn / Reykjavik) arriving in Iceland begining June.
It's the right time. I would say that you want to be in Iceland by mid-June.
So, you have time to visit and sail back before August.
Begining August, in Iceland, they start saying "ahh.. that was a nice summer ... " and indeed the weather turns to the autunm.
If you go through Faeroes, be sure to have a map of currents. It's like chenal du four between each of the islands ...
Bon courage,

Tjenare,

Summer, man, only summer ... ;-)

Contact Artur Bergier on sy. Berg and he will share his know-how with you. They visited Iceland last year.

If any problem contacting them, send my a PM and I will forward you.

Cheers,
barnie

Re: Scotland to Iceland: What Season ?

When the whisky runs out and hell freezes over. :-)

Good luck. Ireland is closer and has lots of good pubs
