Proof of VAT PAID

How can I get evidence from Jeanneau in France that VAT was paid by original purchaser. My sales agreement merely state "EU VAT PAID" in the document. I don't have original invoice.

If the yacht is more than a few years old, its doubtful Jeanneau will have records, but you can try them. Actually you need is the name of the dealer who first sold the yacht.

The most important thing for a new UK owner is to be able to prove were the boat was on Brexit day, if you wish to keep the yacht in the EU.

If the yacht is coming back to the UK, you will have to pay VAT on import if you bought it post Brexit in the EU.

Attention, the only document valid for "VAT paid" is a copy of the original invoice. OR, if the boat was acquired through a leasing company the last invoice from them. Either way, the VAT needs to be clearly stated in the invoice. I don't think a manufacturer can provide such evidence. The seller has to provide proof that back up his claim about "VAT paid".
