Insurance costs

Perhaps these may be rhetorical questions, but I would not mind knowing the answers.
why does boat insurance cost more than house insurance, when a house is worth many times more?
While cruising in the USA why can I not get boat insurance from a US company without a US drivers license ( I do not live in the USA but am here for a little while, and am not resident here, my boat is brit registered, and my current insurance company ( British) has just informed me of the new surcharge for cruising in the US, its over 10% of the boat value!
Is there available in the US liability only insurance,? cause I cant seem to find it

There is only liability insurance. Try progressive insurance.
They would only cover me for it as they say my boat is to old.
My home issurance is over 4K, my boat is half that but you are right. I beleve the insurance robbers would say its about risk, and the pool of people paying into that. There are a lot more people with home insurance than boat insurance so the risk is higher for the compainies. Just remember they exist to make money, not cover claims.
