Katadyn desalinators

There's quite a few government surplus katadyn 35 dealinators showing up on auction sites. These have been sitting unused for up to 10 years. Does anyone have any experience with the unit, particularly testing the RO membrane and places to purchase a replacement membrane? The Katadyn website is not helpful and I can find no real good information on the web. What's it worth?
