Companionway Doors

I am looking for input on companion way doors. Really tired of the hatch boards and wondering what others opinions are on them and the makers of these doors.

Re: Companionway Doors

I have a set from this company and am happy with the quality, etc. My doors required some extra sanding for fit, but the installation was straightforward.

Re: Companionway Doors

Our boat has folding door and it's great. UD is a center cockpit, so getting pooped is very unlikely. Do have a drop board to use in extreme conditions.

Made my own doors to replace the original door. 1 door is a real louvered door to use in port for air flow and the other looks like louvers...

Re: Companionway Doors

Our boat has a thick plexiglass washboard which sinks into the cockpit forward bulkhead on counterweights. The hatch is likewise thick plexiglass. It is an excellent arrangement. The washboard is always ready to deploy with a single hand movement, and the companionway, when closed up, lets in lots of natural light.

Re: Companionway Doors

Designed my own and made mine thicker. I will also be adding a strip of galvanized metal to really make the companionway secure. All pulled together with 1/4 inch safety bolts 1 1/2 inches long.
