West Marine AIS 1000 Tranceiver

Hi All. I’m a newby to this forum which I’ve been watching for a while. I’m hoping someone can help me.

My new (to me) boat has a West Marine AIS 1000 Tranceiver. I gather that because it’s a Tranceiver and not just a receiver it needs my MMSI loading into it. The problem is I have no idea how to do that. I’ve contacted West Marine twice now but haven’t had a reply. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m in Australia and haven’t yet found anyone to help.

Thanks

Normal procedure in the US is this: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ng-165178.html

Without a manufacturer behind the product, you may find it impossible to change it without bringing it to them.

Well, I think it should have recorded an MMSI before. I'm not sure if you can reset and record your new MMSI, I think by law you can't do that, the safest thing would be to send the AIS to west marine.

That is US law only.

Re: West Marine AIS 1000 Tranceiver

I'm not positive but I think the West Marine AIS 1000 is a rebranded Digital Yacht AIT 1000. I have a pdf user manual and a copy of the configuration software for the AIT 1000. I've never had a reason to use it because the previous owner transferred the boat's MMSI number to me when I bought the boat. If you send me a PM with your email address, I can either send you the files or make them available somewhere for you to download. The user manual is 1.5 MB but the configuration software is 30 MB, so might be too large for email.

Thank you all for your feedback. Do you by any chance have West Marine’s contact details as I can’t get a reply from them. I know how to use google but the absence of even a recognition of my approach makes me wonder if I’m looking in the right place. I read that they were consumed by another company so I question if there is still a service department to liaise with?

Hi Guys, realize this thread is a year old now - but I'm also having issues with a West Marine AIS-1000 branded AIS. I downloaded the AISpro software from Digital Yacht and connected to the serial port - but it's not connecting.

@pjShap if you still have the software, any chance I can have a copy? PM'd my email.
@Billietheboat did you have any luck?

Re: West Marine AIS 1000 Tranceiver

I emailed a copy of the user manual. The connection is via a USB port, and the configuration software should see that as a serial connection. I don't know if it requires a particular software driver, but if it's a Windows pc, device manager should show the connection.
