Newport RI to Charleston SC-Outside

Aloha. Was wondering if I could get some input from folks who have good knowledge on some easy in and out refueling stops along this route.
Not going along ICW

Have heard Beaufort and then Wirghtsville at Masonboro Inlet are good/easy.

Any good (easy in and out) north of Cape Hatteras..

Thanks in advance!

Cheers

Re: Newport RI to Charleston SC-Outside

I have done parts of that trip.

Here are some all weather inlets along the way:

Cape May, NJ
Portsmouth, Va
Moorehead City (Beaufort), NC
Masonboro Inlet (Good, but it isn't like the others which have big ship traffic in and out.)
Wynah Bay (Georgetown), NC Again not like the others but good
Port Royal Sound (Beaufort), SC Good but you are almost to Charleston

Stay out of the Gulf Stream and you should have a great trip.

Cape May, NJ, is probably the best answer to your question about inlets north of Cape Hatteras. Absecon Inlet (Atlantic City, NJ) is also pretty good.

I don't know about Ocean City, Maryland. Have never tried it.

Southport or Bald Head Island at the Cape Fear River entrance have refueling fairly close to the sea, although you have to go around Cape Fear.
