No that's a default coordinate in NC, I'm in PA...lol
I'm still not getting anywhere yet but i'm working on it!

Then your version of OCPN looks different than mine. When I have no GPS, there are no coordinates in the lower left status bar.

Is the bar to the left of "Ship" in the lower left corner spinning???

No it's not spinning. Gpsgate says it recognizes the garmin but no satellites as well and the receiver is unobstructed to the sky. Hmmmm I think it's only recognizing the unit but not receiving...hell I dont know. Also there is a red light top right.
