excellent wind rose site

I need help!

I have previously found a really good global wind rose site which had an odd name, but the actual name I can't remember and nor can I find it.

Can anyone help please?

Re: excellent wind rose site

This site is mostly eye candy or at most big picture flows but it might help you.:

Windy? Shows you the wind patterns, but not much on velocity.

Re: excellent wind rose site

There were two good sites.

"Climatology of Global Ocean Winds" (COGOW) at Oregon State. It was a Flash driven site using QUickSCAT data. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be working any more
http://cioss.coas.oregonstate.edu/cogow/index.html

Deepzoom. Based on the COGOW data. It used to be good but they screwed it up total with the major re-design of the site. No longer provide climatology at all.
https://www.deepzoom.com/

I haven't been able to find anything currently available comparable to those sites.
That said, climatology.pi in OpenCPN isn't bad.
Also Pilot Charts are still available for download (generally, each Region and month is about 8-12 MB) :

Re: excellent wind rose site

windy.com is excellent. Allows selection of a vast number of different weather features to show. I like wind speed and pressure isobars together.
And check a separate display with ocean currents.
wow.

Another vote for Windy. Excellent. There used to be hard copy book of wind roses by month compiled from a US navy officer, I think in late 1800s. Just Pacific maybe.

Re: excellent wind rose site

Lot's of people mentioning Windy. Sure it's a great resource, but it has nothing to do with the OP's question.

Windy shows forecast conditions for several days.

A Wind Rose shows a historical data summary for a specific time of year (generally either a fortnight or a month) - it tells you the average (expected?) frequency and intensity of winds from each direction for that time of year. Windy doesn't do that

https://www.windalert.com/map

This gives wind rose plots for land based weather stations ... but not mid ocean.

Windy itself would disagree with you:
