Data Upload from OpenCPN to Garmin GPS152

Hello
To my setup - I use OpenCPN 2.1.0 Build 624a on a Samsung NC10 Netbook with a Profilic PL2303 USB to Serial adapter and a Garmin GPS152.
I get also the GPS-data correctly to the computer and everything is fine until I try to send a route to the GPS. Than a waypoint with the position N 8°55,121' and W 79°31,879' shows up in the GPS as N 85°05,121' and W 79°31,879'.
So it seems to me, that the GPS expects a 2 digit degree information. Is there a possibility to adjust OpenCPN in a way that the N/S info of the data I send to the GPS is always 2 digits long? Or is there another way to work around that problem?
Thanks for your help
Heinz

I forgot to mention I have tested it on a Windows Version of OpenCPN and on a Linux version as well - same problem here and there.
