Re: Best guides/apps for navigating the ICW

I didn't see that anyone had mentioned Captain Bob'S Cruising guides. I have used them from the tip of Texas to the Florida west coast along with my iPad with Garmin Bluecharts, and my Chartolotter...I haven't been on the East coast since the old Loran days...lol. Captain Bob's is basic but a good resource.

Re: Best guides/apps for navigating the ICW

I just ran up and down the ICW this summer and found I used the MX Mariner app on my cell phone a lot. It has NOAA raster charts and Active Captain information on it, and it was always in my pocket.

I find I don't use paper charts and guide books very much any more, FWIW.

MX Mariner with Active Captain was invaluable last summer from Norfolk to the Keys. The waterway guides are only good at finding their advertisers. On nights that I planned to stay in marinas I used Google maps.
