1979 Ritchie Navigator compass rebuild

Rather than buy a new, mostly plastic, compass, I had my 1979 Ritchie Navigator rebuilt - new bowl, new LED light, powder coated, new gasket - fantastic job:

Viking Instruments did a great job for a rebuilt that Gordon in Annapolis could not do.

Prior to my round trip to Hawaii I had my Ritchie SP-5 compass rebuilt by Island Marine Instruments in Everett, WA. It was in poor condition and came back like new. Total cost for the rebuild was $393.67 plus $20.70 for mailing. The retail value of the compass at the time was $599.99; not as much of a saving as I expected but eight years later it is still working well.

Thanks! I just noticed my lower helm compass developed a small leak over the winter, and these guys aren't too far from me. I'd much rather pay a local business to fix it than buy a new one!

I had my Richie DNW-200 rebuild by Richie. It came back like new for half the price of a new unit.
