Thinking of buying a rocna 44lb for Endeavor 35.5.

Hey mates.
Im thinking of buying a Rocna anchor 44 lb/20 kgs and found a second hand barley used one for sale.

The Endeavor 35.5 weghits like 13,250 lbs by sailboatdata.

Is it too big for the boat?

I plan on sailing in the caribbean as soon as I get the boat ready and want to sleep good at night.

Now it has bruce 22 lb. With a short chain and rod.
And another bruce 20 lb as backup.

Cheers.

I'd consider that an appropriate size. The current 22 lb anchor is far too small for that boat.

You're probably borderline between a 35lb and 45lb anchor, and I would go for the bigger one since you are planning some anchoring in places where it will be iffy. Just be sure you have the chain and windlass to handle it.

Buy it. I’ve slept well for years on my Rocna and then Rocna Vulcan.

You’ll never say, “I wish I’d gone down an anchor size” when it’s blowing hard at midnight. It’s better to roll over a go back to sleep happy you got the larger anchor.

I’d also get Anchor Pro anchor alarm for your phone. I have slept better than even since I got that.

According to Rocna sizing, you're squarely in the 15KG (33lb) size. I don't see any harm with going with a 20KB (44lb) if your bow pulpit and roller can fit it. Especially if you're long term cruising.

Rocna is recommending 5/16" chain for either anchor size.

My theory is as long as you're windless can pull the anchor up it's not too big. What is the worst that can happen. It holds your boat secure 50 mph winds

45 lbs is fine but if you REALLY want to sleep well buy a Mantus instead

Our boat is the same size and weight and we chose the 20kg Rocna. We've yet to test it in bad weather but we've had no issues using it and are happy to have it.

I have a 45-lb Manson (similar anchor) on my 31' 20,000lb boat. It's the right size. I can still pull it up by hand in calm water, even from deep down, with the manual windlass only to break out the hook or if it's windy.
You'll be glad for it on your boat.
