Maxwell 800

I have a Maxwell 800 on my 40 ft Catalina with a #45 CQR anchor, this past weekend I used the anchor and winch and found that the windlass would bring the anchor from the bottom to the roller at deck level but it would not power the anchor into its place of rest, the motor was working but no lift on the chain. Any Suggestions?

Re: Maxwell 800

The first question I think of whenever anyone asks about windlass issues, is when was the last time it was serviced? Windlass manufactures typically state that they should be serviced once a year, and for good reason. It needs to be cleaned, lubricated and adjusted.
