Well, the verdict is in; anchored in Back Creek,
Annapolis, where the holding can be notoriously poor. Last night registered
wind gusts of 48 knots, winds steady at 25 -35. My new Davis Talon held beautifully.
Rhosyn Mor is a 37 foot
ketch, displaces 15,600, 20kg Davis Talon ( Actually weighed in at 48.7 lbs) with 85 feet of 3/8 BBB chain, pair of half inch nylon snubbers. Back Creek is very soft and loose mud, my old
CQR would have ripped right thru it. the Davis set the first time. I do understand that the chain length and weight had a lot to do with the success, but the Ease of launching and the setting right the first time also make life sweeter
I have nothing to do with the Davis company other than as a happy customer.
