Has anyone ever installed a removable inner stay on a fractional rigged boat? Our Fulmar is 7/8ths. ? Might be good only in heavy winds, as the geometry would make the inner triangle quite small.

Thanks guys, I definitely have a need for an extra stay and the extra slot. The slot created between my genoa and mainsail is slightly counterbalanced by a high freeboard, and besides not worrying about what the next owner would say- still have a functional need for such sail forward as my routes in the next few years will be to wind. Cacique-do you have a picture or online reference for this collar with three points?

When you need that inner sail, you need it to stay flat. I would not try to use a free flying sail.... it's hard enough in a heavy blow to keep the luff tight enough on a sail on a stay....

There are quite a few stainless mast hounds available from older round wood mast boat projects and with a carbonfiber mast I'd consider trying to find one.
What is the dimension of your mast at the point where you will need a hound? I have one that might work.
Kind regards,

Anyone have some basic experience without the specialized lever, the rotating mast cuff, and the fancy foil?

I am based in a undeveloped country and welcome any visitors, but I don't have much baggage allowance left.

Solent stay

Rig a solent stay. Attach ciose to masthead. Stay can be wire or new high tech line. You will need pad eye on deck and can use a simple turnbuckle for tension and attachement. You might need a pendant also as you want the stormsail well clear of the deck so it's out of the water coming over the bow.
