Section of Hobie 16 mast for a boom?

Good day,

We are fixing up a 25 ft Flamenca (an earlier design of Berckemeyer, made specifically for the Cape of Good Hope area).

The boat that we have has a small boom. I want to fit larger reefing lines (8mm - 12mm) as opposed to the current 6 mm lines, and then run the lines inside the boom. The profile of the current boom seems too small to accommodate the three lines (Outhaul, Reef 1 and Reef 2).

Would it be possible to make up a boom from a section of a Hobie 16 mast, or would this be an overkill and add too much weight?

The boom of a Flamenca is about 3.2 meters in length.

Kind regards,
Jaco

Do you have a gooseneck that will accommodate the bigger boom dimensions and connect to your mast? A Hobie mast section would not seem to be too heavy for a boom on a 25' boat.
