Recutting Spinnakers

I would like to have my symmetrical kite recut to an asymmetric, but I can't find much info on this. I am told that only certain types of S-sail can be successfully converted, but I don't know which types. Anybody here have any positive/negative experiences with converting S-sails to A-sails?

I would think that would be very tough. And not much less expensive than a new asym. Maybe if your current sym is in brand new shape and you took it to a sailmaker during a big down time on work would it make money sense. Better to look for a good used asym from Bacons or local sail lofts.

Don't know why it wouldn't work. Downwind sails are much less persnickety about shape than reaching sails. If your good with a sewing machine check out the sale at rochfordsupply.com look under textiles then closeout nylons. Killer deal on .75 and 3.5 oz ripstop nylon. I'm gonna order a roll of the .75 and make a giant A for those sunny 5-10 days next time I place an order there.
