Lewmar H3 Windlass Gearbox leak

Hi, I have a 10 year old Lewmar H3 Windlass on my Mauritius 43. I noticed about a week ago that there seems to be gearbox oil??? leaking out onto the deck from under the gypsy. (just above the hawser pipe opening)
I have enquired at our local chandlery for a seal kit but have been told that the gearbox is a sealed unit & that the seals cant be replaced or the gearbox oil refilled......they need to order me a new gearbox with the 2 gaskets!!
Is this correct or can someone help with an easier & more economical solution PLEASE?

I dont know how to post a link, but I googled Lewmar h3, and came up with a breakdown that makes it appear that it can be taken apart and worked on. If a Lewmar dealer wont help you, maybe print out the drawings and ask a machine shop if it looks like it can be repaired. A Chandlery stands to make a nice sum to sell you something you may not need. Just a thought. ______Grant.
