Hood Stowaway question

Purchased a Hinckley 64 in Trinidad a couple of years ago, and sailed it back to the Bay area by way of Tahiti. This was a sunset tour as I had previously circumnavigated back in the 80s. However, this boat was outfitted with an inmast Hood stowaway system (not my preference, but was too much trouble to change) and I’m wondering if anybody has an answer to my question.
The aft section of the mainmast has a gated lever that can drop into three positions ... sort of like a downward shaped “E”. It seemed frozen in place so never had an inclination to force the lever since the system worked fine and never felt the need to adjust it. Sort of don’t fix what ain’t broken. Since I’m back home now, I decided to free the lever to determine what it was for and, of course, ended up breaking it off. I’ll have to drill out the broken section and re-thread a new lever but before I do, can anybody answer me what this lever is for? My original thought was that it was related to the manual operation of the motorized furler. Much appreciate any help in advance.

Still hoping for some help from the community.

Re: Hood Stowaway question

Just after I posted I opened up the Indalo Rigging web pages to find out that Eric Pearson had died. He was a great guy and will be deeply missed by many folks.
It’s nice to see his work has not been lost forever. I’d let this crew rig my boat.
