We also acknowledge these are not the 'Rolls Royce' of
marine heads.
We are on to our third TMC since 2014,
corrosion on the face plate creates a leak.
So whilst not friendly to the wider
environment, having 'no leak' on the downstream side of the
head is a whole lot more environmentally friendly on board.
Until
head #3, when in use, the previous 2 motors have operated at a high
pitch wine
noise. Those 2 have been comparable to the motor's
noise on some youtube videos available online.
Head #3 has constantly operated at a much lower sound, like it is really labouring. The head was installed in August 2020 and used full time for three months, then sporadically. We are careful to flush the lines with fresh
water when not in use and find that vegetable
oil can also assist the
seals and the
pump.
We thought that maybe it was just the
motor, but it has now reached the point that the impeller needs to be manually turned (using a screwdriver) to get it to
work.
The
electrical performance of the
boat has been consistently good.
Email contact with TMC has proven fruitless, so far.
I am about to pull the
motor off and see what I can find out. What should I be looking for, and what should I do to 'free up' the motor?
TIA
