That's a really great resource! Do you have a parts list for all the parts you used? Just for my interest, are you Europe based? I'm going to bed to find all the components in Europe.

Really nice OM and nice arrangement. What influenced you to include a low pressure pump.

Also wonder if anybody has tried the 2521 membrane.

Re: Small watermaker 3 gph

not sure exactly why I included a low press pump other than to say that every DIY system I looked at included one to push the brine thru the filters and on to the high-pressure pump. Don't know if the Pumptec will self-prime either. I will try to look back on my sources and put together a list of items and sources needed to build the watermaker. I did purchase the pressure pump directly from Pumptec. more to follow

the boat and I are both based on the Eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland

How noisy is your watermaker?

Re: Small watermaker 3 gph

I'm not going to lie, she makes noise, but the pumps are located up front under the v birth so it's quite tolerable in the salon and unheard from the cockpit. Surprisingly, a better supply pump quieted things way down.

I'm curious to know what kind of electrical setup people are using and how its working out ? in other words how much battery/solar do you have, are you normally running the engine while using it, that sort of thing.

That's an indication that the cylinders were not filled with fluid when the plunger changed direction. You might even be able to make it quieter with a pulsation damper on the pump suction as close as possible to the pump's inlet. Have a look at the gadgets they use to reduce water hammer in home plumbing.

Re: Small watermaker 3 gph

Pump update,

Sorry to bust in on this thread. I have been speaking to Pumptec about the 116C pumps, they are coming out with a new variation soon. It will be a billet aluminum model, the current one is cast aluminum model. It will be out shortly.

I am trying to get a hold of a few of them to get you all a good price. Let you know as soon as I find out. If you are interested, please PM and I will make sure to contact you about pricing and inventory.

Even though he is in Germany, this guy is selling reasonably priced kits. The site says sold out, but, I am in contact with him and he says he is still selling them.

It's more than enough if one shows a little discipline in fresh water use.
