Look up Alpicool portable fridges on Amazon. Chinese made units with Danfoss copied 12/24v compressors. Low ampere draw, under 4amps. Organ donor for your upgrade. But I'd simply find a place for the Alpicool to go and use it full time, to freeze gel packs to transfer into your existing fridge/freezer compartment. Will freeze to -20C, a bit slowly... I run mine off an 80watt panel with 100ah house battery. More panel and battery would be advisable however.
