Pump selection

Just wondering if anyone can offer any pearls of wisdom?.

I go fishing on my small sailing boat up to 6 hours sailing from port and need water to wash fish and generally keep them cool on warm days, also to wash the boat. The pump will need to run for most of the 6 hours so I understand a pump rated as intermittent is no good.

I have a spare 19mm hose tail on a sea cock.

I have an Osculati quick release connector (deck fitting) and can use as supplied with a pressure pump OR can remove its internal valve and use with a manually switched pump.

Any ideas

Standard wash down kit would be my go to. Pick your flow rate and drop it in.

I think the water puppy by Jabsco is continuous duty, lots of different sizes.

I have struggled to find any deck wash pumps with a continuous duty rating.

It is a little odd that the smaller sizes in the Jabsco pumps are a good deal more expensive than the larger ones.

I have found a Flojet R4105 501A. Continuously rated, the correct flow rate and with hose tails (19mm) that match those already on the boat.

I just installed a Delavan FB2 as a washdown pump. Rated for 7 GPM open flow, 5.5 gpm at 40 PSI. Pressure switch is set at 60 out of the box, but can be turned up as far as 100 safely. It's surprisingly quiet, but it does draw a lot of power (rated draw is 22.5 amps at 60 psi down to 12.3 at open flow and up to 27.1 amps at 100 psi). The motor is large and there's no specific duty cycle given, as it'll be limited by motor cooling. The notes on their website indicate that it can probably be run continuously at 30 - 40 psi.

If you don't need much pressure, there are likely better choices.
