IOW, short succinct posts each oriented around a single topic

ideally in line with that of the thread as a whole

makes for a much more productive discussion
Hmm, being critical of others writing annoying posts.

Yes, You are right....
https://www.custommarineproducts.com...ng-system.html

but now You also have to add on all the costs for the hardware and the real pain to install that system and if You observed the cruising area and circumstances of the boat it seems like depending on solar is not an option.

Of course not talking about that this solution requires that already a solar installation with sufficient size is installed on the boat that would also add considerable weight. For thermal water heating I would definitely prefer the evacuated tubes. They need a third of the foot print and operate at a much higher temperature and also have no considerable weight. This could be a good add on to the already mentioned system with the heat exchanger of the Diesel heater to make water heating more efficient but as solar conditions are not reliable it would never be more then that.

It’s too cold where I sail for this to be effective, more of a solution in houses of warm countries.,
On a boat in a warm location I think photovoltaic solar is probably a better option for the battery charging functionality
