Actual Experience with DIY A/C Condensate Venturi Pump ?

The one in the picture is a Johnson multi-port shower sump. I also have a smaller Attwood sump for the aft A/C. If I had to do it over I'd probably go for the Attwood for both. The Johnson seems to have troubles with air entrainment that makes it run for 5-6 seconds instead of the 2-3 seconds when I first installed it. Not annoying except at night when we're trying to sleep. It pumps fine but keeps on running after all the water is gone. I'm guessing the float gets stuck somehow after the water level drops, but it uses a magnetic float and I'm not sure if I can open it up to troubleshoot it. On the other hand, the Johnson pumps about 1000 gph, so I view it as a backup bilge pump.
