Key Largo Trip

We're going to Key Largo for a few days around August 27. Would like to hear of interesting things to do while there. We will be on a boat at the pilot house marina. I plan to install a GPS on the boat than go to the reefs and dive a little. Hope to fish some on the mound?? not sure where it is. The boats draft is 4.5 ft, air draft 20 ft so it limits where we can go, probably need to stay on the Atlantic side. However it would be nice to spend a night out, any ideas on an area I can get into on the gulf side to anchor out?
Thanks,
Waywardsuun

We are currently anchored near the Featherbed Bank in Biscayne Bay. Far enough away from shore to get what little breeze is available and no bugs! Depths should be ok in much of the bay.

Re: key largo trip

We sailed and scuba dived out of Miami for 6 yrs. We would go south of Largo and pick up one of he 300 dive balls on the outer reef...Good snorkeling, diving, nice breeze and no mosquitoes. Nice diving off Islamorada.

We stayed overnight on many occasions...not sure if lega/allowedl but we were well away from he Park rangers at Penecamp and were nigh diving
