If You Are Going to Take a Nap, Make Sure There Is Sufficient Depth Under the Boat

My wife and I were on our Cat yesterday when we got to our favorite spot ,so we anchored close to shore for lunch and swimming. I decided to have a little nap while she was reading....the tide was going down but I didn't worry because I have been there before.Well 2 hours later I get up and we are siiting on the bottom,it was 1pm in the afternoon.the boat was siiting on both keels,and both rudders.I got under the boat,made sure that it was OK,then I had to kill time so I got a brush and had a bottom job,cleaned both hulls,props,rudders,inspected everything,and waited t'ill 8pm before we were floating again. Over all a very pleasant day,a lot of work done and also a very good lesson,make sure that no matter what,you always have enough water depth all the way around the boat.

You did what my dad has done on his shrimp boat back in the 80's. He ran aground on a snadbar on the falling tide. Over the side he went with a brush to scrub the bottom of the boat.

The tide is a great reason to be 6 hours late coming home from the sailing club...

So in other words, you took a nap to rest up for the bottom cleaning you were going to have to do when the tide went out. That was the plan from the start. LOL always make a bad day into something useful if you can.

The laying up in the sun is good but the cleaning of the bottom means the fridge would need raiding after!
