Unbridled capitalism is a brutal thing. I wouldn't mind being a little less "prosperous" to be able to afford quality health care. A lot of Americans are just a serious illness away from bankruptcy. None of these issues are black or white.

Re: Castro dead at 90

The first Cuban "cruisers", since Castro died, have arrived in the Florida Keys. I don't think they plan to return to Cuba.

I'd like to hear from them, are they on here, or do you have a link?

I have yet to make it to Cuba. But comparing PR to Cuba, really? We came away from PR thinking it was a pretty nice place, I also was happy my phone worked with no roaming charges....

Sorry, it was a poorly worded joke. They were Cuban refugees who are being hosted by immigration until their status is confirmed.

I find it disturbing that so many people want to vacation in a country where the people are desperate to leave. Kind of like going to East Germany before the Wall came down.

I suppose I'll get over it, but for now I choose not to go.

I guess you don't go to Mexico either. Since 12 million of them came here.

Re: Castro dead at 90

When I visit a country, I mingle with the people and exchange ideas and points of view. I compare the differences in culture, food and enjoy landscape, etc., but try not to judge. I make the most of what they have to offer. I must admit that I am content out in the desert eating bean burritos heated over the coals, so I do not need much of infrastructure. I ignore politicians and political system. I pretty well(almost) do the same in my own.

A different point of view is that by going to other places, one is helping, in a very small way, by spending money with the locals. One is sometimes surprised by their way of seeing things!

How many millions came to the Americas from all over the world and never went back(this includes my own)?

There is always a different way of looking at things. Do not get all upset. I like to play the devils advocate.. It brings out different perspectives and can become great conversations. Like President Reagan said" We can disagree without being disagreable".

For the past 45+ years we've been cozying up to China, the largest Communist country there ever was, a far worse violator of human rights than Cuba ever was or will be, yet we, supposedly free citizens of the supposedly "freest country on Earth" can't be trusted to go freely to another communist country 100 miles away? As comedian Yakov Smirnoff used to exclaim: "Only in America!"

As detective "Boston Brownie" says "follow the money".

Like a senator said when a reporter brought to his attention that the dictator was a SOB. The senator answered. Yes. But he is our SOB!
