Coast Guard rescues four from sailboat 300 miles off Cape Henry

Daily Press 10:18 p.m. EST, January 14, 2014

Four people were rescued by the Coast Guard from a disabled sailboat about 300 miles east of Cape Henry on Tuesday, officials said.
On Monday afternoon, the Coast Guard was contacted by a representative of the Be Good Too, which was on its way to the British Virgin Islands from New York, according to a Coast Guard news release.
Because of the distance of the 42-foot-sailboat from shore, Coast Guard officials requested a Navy vessel to help with the rescue, determining that sending a cutter would not be feasible, the release stated.

The people on board the Be Good Too were not in immediate distress, officials said.
A Jayhawk helicopter and an HC-130 Hercules aircraft from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City were dispatched at about 6:20 a.m. Tuesday. The USS Ross, a 505-foot guided missile destroyer, also served as a refueling platform for the Coast Guard helicopter during the rescue.
The four aboard the sailboat were rescued by the helicopter crew at about 9:15 a.m., officials said.
