Site change, auto logout?

There seems to be a new behavior that I am logged off automatically after a period of inactivity. Both at home, and at work, and on my phone.

Since I leave my browser open all day, it is annoying to have to keep logging in again and again. On my phone, where entering a long secure password with my fat thumbs is physically challenging, I've stopped using it on my phone.

I would like to request to be able to stay logged in again, or to know how to turn on that feature myself if some setting changed.

Doesn't your browser offer you a 'remember me' option when you log on and also save your password.

I haven't used my username or password for ages and I open and close my browser many times during the day, mind you I don't use the log out feature before closing the browser.

Re: Site change, auto logout?

My laptop and the app on my phone stay logged in.

Several months ago the website when viewed thru the browser on my phone started requiring logins for most instances.
If I opened a new window login
If I opened a page from a mail notification.
If I opened a new page from an already logged in page NO login.

I assume it has something to do with cookie settings but don’t care enough to find out.

Re: Site change, auto logout?

This is happening for me even if I leave the window open, and even if I don't change tabs. I use the site, walk away and leave it open and the active window, and I come back 20 minutes later, and I need to log in again. On 4 different computers I regularly use, plus my phone. I've not changed any browser settings, and certainly not on all 4 computers I use. And this is the only forum site that started doing it. So, I assumed it was a server-side change.

My browser is set to allow all cookies and delete them on closing the browser. That hasn't changed-and I expect to log in again when I close the browser. I don't expect to log in again when the browser window is left open.

But, if no one else is experiencing it... I'll keep looking.

Re: Site change, auto logout?

Perhaps it is a small CF server side change but only affects a few users which is dependant on the way they use their browser options and the associated operating system. It sounds like you are getting logged out of CF whenever the idle time is triggered; maybe the idle time cut out has been reduced on the CF server.

You could contact the Help Desk by using the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom of every page. They are the folk who know this stuff but AFAIK, they don't monitor this forum.

As posted upthread, when I open CF from a previously closed browser, it remembers my username/password and logs me seamlessly; clearly not a good idea when using a shared computer though.

Re: Site change, auto logout?

It happens quite frequently for me but it’s caused by the connection being lost either momentarily or simply out of range. I get the login window but if the connection is restored the screen remains, if I just close the login screen I’m already still logged in.
